7x Dinner Plates Hycroft China, Medicine Hat Canada Calico Blue

These check pattern dishes were very popular in the 1950's and 60s and similar patterns were produced by a number of companies. These 7 dinner plates were made by Hycroft China which operated from 1955 to the 80s in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. These plates would date from the late 50s into the 60s. Initially, the artist Rose Woyclehouski completed the entire pattern herself but, as orders grew, she taught an assembly line of women who applied a different colour to the same dish. Hycroft Calico is one of the most popular Canadian collectibles and is becoming hard to find. Each plate is 9.5" in diameter and 3/4" high. One has a chip on the rim (last picture) and another has a star crack on the bottom with an associated stain (2nd and 3rd last pictures) The rest are in very good condition with minimal wear.
