Reference: Doris Lechler,'English Toy China,' Figure No. This is a child's miniature Dinner Set in a blue willow transfer pattern, with complimentary border with diamond shapes and flowers, and highlighted with gold/gilt edges. There are very interesting shapes for the tureens, platters, and plates with wavy, scalloped molding. The design has the elements of the Oriental style illustrating the ill-fated story of the lovers who were transformed into doves by the gods so they could always fly together. There is the fence, pagoda, willow tree, bridge with 3 people, water, sampan, and doves in flight at the top. Originally conceived in the 18. Century, this pattern variation was designed, made and marked on the undersides by "Shell" Ware, England, Old English, c 1900 - 1920. This Dinner Set consists of. (2) Tureens: 5.375" W x 4" D x 2.5 H. (1) Sauce Boat: 4.25" W x 1.75" D x 2 H. Interior hairline and very light interior toning. (1) Platter: 7" W x 5.5" D. (1) Platter: 6.25" W x 4.75" D. (1) Platter: 5.5" W x 4" D.

This child's miniature Dinner Set is in excellent condition with the exception detailed above. There is the occasional glaze skip, crazing, some sporadic loss to the gilding, and with minor kiln stilt marks and imperfections original in the making from this period of time.
