This is a ceramic plate in the Talavera tradition of Mexican pottery by Cayetano Corona, from Tiaxcala, Mexico. This is a the lemon pattern. It is has shaded yellow lemons with green leaves. The groups of lemons are on a pale blue background. The top rim edge is yellow and the inside border has cobalt blue brush strokes and dots.

The piece measures 10 across and has a hole in the back for hanging. It is signed, Talavera La Corona, Tiax.

It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. Expect imperfections in the painting, with skip marks, fingerprints and smudges. He went to the city of Puebla and went to work for the famed Uriarte family.

After many years of mastering his craft, Cayetano decided to go off on his own and opened his factory in the neighboring state of Tlaxcala. His work is highly respected and he is now one of Mexicos Great Masters of Folk Art. While today, many of the Talavera factories in Puebla are mass producing, Cayetano insists on following the timeworn technique of producing Talavera and aims to preserve this traditional craft.
