Sevres Hand Painted Watteau Scene Lady With Roses Celeste Blue Floral Gold Plate. Decorated with a hand painted Watteau scene / courting couple center in the center with a lady in a pink and white dress with her arms full of pink roses, a gentleman with one arm around the lady and the other hand holding a shove, with fountain and trees in the background. The scene is framed by gold gilt scrollwork. The plate has a celeste blue background with white cartouches around the border with hand painted pink roses and flowers in white, red and blue framed by gold floral scrollwork. Marked on the reverse with an underglaze green S.
72 Sevres date code mark. The mark has a slash through it.
Also has an old sticker with an armorial crest / coat of arms and the words Estampille de Cluny. I have not been able to find any information about this sticker. Probably decorated in Paris during the late 19th century. Has some wear to the gilding and a small flake to the blue background along the edge, but otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 9 3/4 inches wide.This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
