For your consideration, a very fine, exceptional, set of Royal Worcester Dinner Plates. Each has a wide cobalt blue border which goes from the rim, down over the verge, and is overlaid at the rim with a gilt tracery of stylized Jacobite roses. Pictured, in marvelous hand painted portraits, are Scottish castles, gone to ruin. The homes of clan chieftans and Lairds, abandoned after the failed Jacobite risings.
Wildly romantic, they sit desolate, in rugged and beautiful country, some with wonderful highland mountains beyond. They are all hand painted, and very picturesque. Made in the first half of the 20th century, when Worcester employed some of the finest china painters who ever worked. An extraordinary set of dinner plates. Each measures 10.25 in diameter. Our offer is for eight (8). All are in excellent condition, with only the most minimal signs of age, one or two pin pricks of loss to the blue, and tiny spots of very minor wear to the inner gilt verge rim.
